Richard Arthur Davies passed away on Sunday, April 7th, 2024 at home in Hanover Twp. Born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania on November 18, 1954, he was the son of the late William and Ann (Edwards) Davies of Wilkes-Barre.
Rick graduated from GAR high school in 1972. He worked for Kmart 27 years starting as a garden center associate and advancing to store manager. He then worked at Compression Polymers as the warehouse supervisor until retirement.
Rick had a passion for playing guitar all of his life and was an accomplished guitarist. He was proud for his Welsh heritage and always enjoyed reading and watching anything about Wales. The Phillies (“Lager up”) and Eagles were his favorite teams. Rick was a British car enthusiast and loved working on and restoring his 1957 Triumph TR3. He enjoyed many summers fishing with his sons. He loved spending time with all of his children and grandchildren, celebrating every birthday and holiday together.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, William D., Kenneth, and David Davies; sisters, Janice Dombek, Sandra L. McCormack and Jean Davies and brothers-in-laws, Arthur B. Bush, James H. Balmer and George Dombek.
Rick is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sumnar Davies, sons Richard Douglas Davies of Sweet Valley, Daniel Evan Davies (partner Kaitlin Hannigan) of Harvey’s Lake, daughters Sarah Levi (Michael) of Luzerne and Laura Thomas (Robert) of Kingston, granddaughter Gabrielle Davies and grandson Owen Davies.
He is survived by his sisters Joyce Bush, Cherry Hill, NJ, Phyllis J. Balmer, Dallas, Ann (Anthony) Esser, Anthem, AZ; brothers, Paul E. (Patricia), Shavertown, Wayne (Jean) Irmo SC, Linda M. ( Michael) St. Pierre, sister-in-laws Mary Ann R. Davies and Delia J. Davies, and brother-in-law, Frank E. McCormack and many nieces and nephews.
Richard was a strong, quiet, and wonderful man who loved his family immensely. Our love for him will live on in our hearts and memories forever.
A memorial service will be held Sunday at 3:00 PM from Kniffen O’Malley Leffler Funeral & Cremation services, 465 S. Main St, Wilkes-Barre. Family and friends may visit from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM.
