It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Madeleine I. (Garrett) Brunson, 89, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away peacefully Tuesday evening, surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Wilkes-Barre on February 6, 1935, she was a daughter of the late William and Madeleine (Lyles) Garrett, Sr.
When her son, Lyle, was growing up, she was very active in being a Den Mother for his Boy Scout Troop and E.L. Meyer’s Football Booster Club. Family was always very important to her.
Madeleine worked for many years at The Boston Store and Boscov’s, Wilkes-Barre.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, William, Jr., Carlton, Roger, and Robert Garrett.
Surviving is her loving son, Lyle C. Brunson, Wilkes-Barre, a loving sister, Gwendolyn Garrett, Wilkes-Barre, godchild and niece, Brooke A. Yurgel, Wilkes-Barre, who was like the daughter she never had, several nieces and nephews, and her loving dog, Bella.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 AM from Kniffen O’Malley Leffler Funeral & Cremation Services, 465 S. Main Street, Wilkes-Barre with Reverend Shawn Walker officiating. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery.
